Thoracoscopic instruments are specialized surgical tools used in thoracoscopic or video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), which is a minimally invasive surgical technique aimed at treating lung and chest diseases. These instruments are designed specifically for the surgical access and visualization of thoracic anatomy, which is achieved through small incisions in the chest wall.

Thoracoscopic instruments typically consist of a rigid thoracoscope, specialized forceps and scissors, a cautery device, and a camera connected to a video screen. The thoracoscope, a rod-shaped device with a light source and a lens that captures images of the surgical site, is inserted through a small incision in the chest wall, allowing the surgeon to view the operation on the video monitor. The forceps and scissors are then used to handle and manipulate tissue during the operation, while the cautery device is used to control bleeding during the procedure.

In addition, thoracoscopic instruments can be used in a variety of surgical procedures, including lung biopsies, lobectomies, and pneumonectomies, making it an important tool in the treatment of lung cancer and other thoracic diseases.
